Aaron Sorkin, Please Let Someone Else Direct 'The Social Network 2'

Everything sounded great until they announced who's directing. Today, people would be less tolerant of the same arrogant and cutthroat Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network. He's not a tortured genius anymore, but rather, the original sin for all our problems today, such as our pervasive divisiveness and rotting digital brains. Without another director's input, Sorkin's scripts become self-serving echo chambers, and that's not what people need regarding the story of Zuckerberg, perhaps the most consequential figure of the 21st century. With the announcement that The Social Network getting a sequel, Aaron Sorkin should write the film, but he shouldn’t be behind the camera to direct. While most sequels are gratuitous cash grabs, the world needs a follow-up to The Social Network. So much has changed (for the worse) since the release of David Fincher's film about Mark Zuckerberg and the founding of Facebook in 2010.After years of audiences clamoring for a sequel to weigh in on all the new developments in Facebook's relationship with the public and the world at large, Variety announced that The Social Network Part II is now in development at Sony Pictures, with Aaron Sorkin back to write a new script.

Following the adoption of Totogi's cloud-native SaaS platform, 2degrees reports having accelerated its wholesale mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) revenue growth beyond what was possible with its previous systems. The company states it has on-boarded new MVNO partners and delivered over 300 new features without experiencing service disruptions.Legacy monetisation systems have long been regarded as an obstacle to wholesale expansion for mobile network operators (MNOs), often requiring prolonged and expensive upgrade cycles. According to Totogi, its platform allows operators to on-board MVNOs more rapidly, deliver new functionalities swiftly, and avoid the need for disruptive and costly system upgrades. Chris Bradley, Head of Digital Architecture at 2degrees, said, "Totogi's SaaS-based charging platform has transformed how we operate our wholesale business. With Totogi's multi-tenant platform, operators can run their wholesale business like a software company—rolling out features continuously, scaling dynamically, and turning their network into a competitive advantage rather than a limitation." The multi-tenant infrastructure of the platform is designed to allow continuous rollout of features whilst maintaining operational stability, which 2degrees cites as a key driver behind its enhanced agility and ability to scale.Totogi's solution was introduced at 2degrees in 2024, with the aim of providing real-time monetisation of network services.

Internet Connection Types Explained - CNET

Learn about how different types of internet connections work, from Fiber and DSL to Satellite and Cable. Review technology, speeds, providers and more on CNET. On average, today's satellite internet providers offer speeds that typically vary from 12 to 120Mbps, though Elon Musk's Starlink satellite internet has raised the bar to 220Mbps. In most cases, that makes it a suitable option for smaller households who want to stream video, browse the internet and update social media. So, which kind of internet connection is right for you? It depends on several factors. The first thing to note is that the FCC defines a broadband connection as a minimum of 100Mbps download and 20Mbps upload speed. The FCC upgraded the speeds required to qualify as broadband from 25Mbps down and 3Mbps up to 100Mbps down and 20Mbps up. Consequently, many DSL services, which often fall below 100Mbps down and almost always below 20Mbps up, are no longer considered broadband internet.Satellite internet may have the ability to deliver 100Mbps download speeds, but the 20Mbps upload speed is a difficult threshold to cross, meaning satellite internet doesn't meet the requirements of a broadband connection in many cases.

FedEx Network 2.0 Rollout: What Carrier Consolidation Means

FedEx closes 100 stations in Network 2.0 rollout. Learn how carrier consolidation affects your supply. FedEx's Network 2.0 represents the most significant carrier network restructuring in recent industry history. The company has converted 290 stations to handle combined Express and Ground volumes, with plans to integrate 63 additional facilities across 20 markets by June's end.FedEx projects $2 billion in savings by fiscal year 2027, driven primarily by facility consolidation and route optimization. According to transportation industry data, major carriers have reduced their combined facility footprint by 12% since 2023, with FedEx leading this consolidation trend. The company has already fully optimized its Canadian operations, providing a blueprint for U.S. market implementation. Beyond cost reduction, Network 2.0 aims to streamline customer interactions by consolidating pickup appointments.Carrier network consolidation reflects broader industry pressures that extend far beyond individual company strategies. The American Trucking Associations reports that transportation operating margins have compressed by 2.3 percentage points since 2022, forcing carriers to eliminate redundant infrastructure and optimize asset utilization.Network 2.0 implementation creates both opportunities and challenges for FedEx customers. The consolidated pickup scheduling eliminates the need for separate Express and Ground appointments, potentially reducing administrative overhead for high-volume shippers.

It’s hard to fully express in one article how I feel about The Social Network, David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin’s 2010 blockbuster hit about the founding of Facebook. That’s partly because I haven’t seen it in a long time, but it’s also because the main subject of the biographical drama has become an even more contentious figure in the 15 years since the film hit cinemas. It’s still widely considered to be one of the best films of the 21st century, but perhaps more culturally significant, its less than flattering depiction of Mark Zuckerberg, now one of the most important and controversial billionaires in the world, helped to cultivate a fascination with the Meta CEO’s intellectual capacity and his abrasive, cold personality.According to Deadline, Aaron Sorkin will be writing and directing The Social Network 2, which “explores the story behind the Wall Street Journal‘s The Facebook Files by Jeff Horowitz, an explosive series of articles published in October 2021 that exposed the inner workings of — and multiple harms caused by — the world’s largest social network.” This means that The Social Network 2 will focus on the 2020 election, but also touch on its effect on “teens, preteens, violence, and countries outside the U.S.”I don’t always love Sorkin’s work, but right now, The Social Network 2 could be what we need. The sequel will likely be very critical of the last 15 years of Mark Zuckerberg's legacy.

Bitcoin Layer 2: Lightning Network

The third article in the Bitcoin Layer 2 series. This article covers the Lightning Network created by Joseph Poon and Tadge Dryja. The Lightning Network is a routed network of payment channels originally proposed by Thaddeus Dryja and Joseph Poon in 2015, with major implementations having been built by Blockstream (CLN), Lightning Labs (LND), ACINQ (Eclair), and Spiral (LDK). · Payment channels are an old concept in Bitcoin, where a user deposited funds into a 2-of-2 multisig address, and a payer can pre-sign transactions allocating more and more funds to a receiver. In order to receive money, users must already have a payment channel open to them with enough funds allocated to facilitate that payment. In order for payments to be routed across the network, every channel must have the appropriate amount of funds on the appropriate side of the channel in order to forward that payment.Routing payments across multiple payment channels in a network, in a safe and secure way, is possible thanks to HTLCs. This is the same mechanism used to facilitate atomic swapping of different assets on a single or across multiple blockchains. An HTLC establishes an output that can be spent in one of two ways, either by the receiving party if they can provide the preimage to a hash that creates a hashlock, or by the sending party after a timelock has expired. This allows someone trying to pay another person across the network to pass along HTLC proposals from themselves all the way to the receiver, locked to the same hashlock generated by the receiver.

Still, if you'd like to future-proof your network, the Eero Max 7 is the way to do it. The system we reviewed, which has three nodes, managed more than 2Gbps throughput speeds in testing. They are all part of a single wireless network, and they share the same SSID and password. Unlike range extenders, which typically communicate with the router via the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, or 6GHz radio bands, most Wi-Fi system satellites use mesh technology to talk to the router and to each other.Working from home by day, gaming and streaming by night? Defeating Wi-Fi dead zones is more important than ever. A mesh network system can help, and these are the best we've tested.
